What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Virginia War Memorial as a moving and educational tribute to fallen heroes, highlighting its well-maintained grounds, informative exhibits, and the dedication of its staff. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some note a lack of clear signage for entry and occasional inattentiveness from certain staff members.
"Fantastic tribute to our veterans and fallen service members. Great architecture and quality displays make a "museum" well worth visiting. We especially appreciated the art exhibits and the short films exploring different aspects of WWII. The docents were kind and helpful, as well. The only negative thing about our experience was the lack of direction around the building itself. We came up to the garden from the back and there were no signs directing us as to where the entrance was to be found. Every door was locked and we almost gave up before stumbling upon the entry portico. The steps in the back need to have some indication that it IS the back and the garden is NOT the only thing to be seen!"

"Wow, wow, wow! I HAD A FANTASTIC TIME at the Virginia War Memorial today with my friend. Mike gave us a “private tour” and gave us so much information about everything! He was so funny and informative, and both my friend and I left with so much new, acquired information. We had a fantastic trip.
The nice thing about this museum is that it is to honor the individuals who lost their lives and is supposed to inspire patriotism.
The building and grounds are well maintained, the staff/volunteers are so happy to meet you and give you tours, and it’s a very good museum!
I would 100% recommend going here to visit. It is a fantastic, free museum with free parking as well.
I had a fantastic time and would absolutely go back. It is definitely one of the best war museums I’ve ever been to!"

They host events throughout the year so keep an eye on their website for details. The city views are amazing. Worth the visit."
