What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kalahari Resorts are widely praised for their massive indoor waterparks and extensive family-friendly activities, making them a top choice for vacations. Guests appreciate the cashless convenience and the adults-only Grotto. However, some visitors find the resort to be expensive, with high costs for food and add-on activities, and occasional issues with attraction closures.
"Hotel - large hotel rooms with floor to ceiling windows and ease of access with the wristband upon arrival. The band is linked to your card since it’s a cashless resort, makes it efficient and easy for meandering through the resort, waterpark and swim up bar without the need to bring a wallet (only your ID).
Waterpark indoor and outdoor - fun for the entire family included with your stay or can visit for just the day with purchase of a park pass
Adult only grotto - heated swim up bar both indoor and outdoor without having to leave the water, bathrooms are a short walk around the corner and much quieter compared to the rest of the park.
Arcade and adventure park - it’s in the name lots of activities for kids and adults
Restaurants: (on site)
B-LuX - burgers are okay but the rest of the menu looked good - full bar
Sortinos - wine bar and Italian restaurant excellent
Sortinos pizzeria - excellent and fast options try the Sicilian pizza or Caesar cutlet sandwich
Last bite - cute candy shoppe and covered apples, ice cream is just bluebell nothing noteworthy
Live entertainment- piano bar
Spa!! - free with $80 service or pay $75 entry… pedicures, massages, facials and more. Entry earns use to the steam room, sauna and heated jacuzzi pools for the day. Definitely worth it!
Very diverse clientele and staff members. Although the art and decor through the resort is a tribute to African culture the cartoons in the arcade/adventure park are limited to white passing faces only.
Altogether safe, fun and relaxing.
Be prepared to spend $200-350 for a night, and easily $100-200 per person each day depending on choice of activities."

"Was at Kalahari Resort for a conference. Room was booked in advance & had confirmation. Only charged for one night at booking. The balance paid at check-in. Lots of add on charges that did not show when I booked.
Room was very nice-- clean, spacious, good layout with microwave and small refrigerator.
Everything is expensive so be prepared. The resort is very large and spread out so plan on lots of walking.
The outdoor water park was closed for the season but the indoor water park is open year round including the adults only area.
Booked a day pass at the spa which was very relaxing. Enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. There were only a few people in the spa. The pass is good all day so we came back in the evening to relax in the hot tubs again.
The online text messaging system is a good way to get questions answered."

"Love coming to this resort. We have been a few different times and it never disappoints. Our favorite place is the adult swim up grotto. They have a double sided bar in a cave/cove area. The indoor pool area is large and has tons of fun options. The outdoor pool area is also spacious but not quite as large. The arcade area is great for kids and reasonably priced. They have an onsite build a bear experience which our daughter loved. There is a Starbucks and several restaurants for brunch and dinners. Even a few nightlife bar options for adults. Overall the total package. Would highly recommend."

The Kalahari Waterpark Experience
Beyond the main attractions, many resorts include an adults-only 'Grotto' area. This unique space offers a swim-up bar in a cave-like setting, providing a more tranquil experience for adults seeking a break from the family excitement. It's a well-loved feature that adds to the resort's appeal for couples and adults traveling without children. Remember that while the indoor park is year-round, outdoor waterpark access is seasonal.
Pro-tip: Arrive early to maximize your time in the waterpark, especially during peak seasons. Consider renting a cabana for a private space to relax and store your belongings. Some guests have noted that certain attractions can be closed unexpectedly due to safety issues, so managing expectations is key.
Beyond the Water: Activities and Amenities
For those seeking relaxation, the Spa at Kalahari provides a sanctuary of pampering. Guests can indulge in massages, facials, and pedicures. Even without a booked service, a day pass often grants access to the spa's amenities, including steam rooms, saunas, and heated pools, offering a peaceful retreat. The resort also features a variety of dining options, from casual eateries to more upscale Italian restaurants like Sortinos, catering to diverse culinary preferences.
Kalahari's commitment extends beyond guest entertainment. The resort's creation was inspired by the Kalahari Desert in Africa, and a portion of the proceeds from stays directly supports providing clean water, clothing, shelter, and food to African villages. This philanthropic aspect adds a layer of meaning to the vacation experience.
Planning Your Stay: Rooms and Costs
The resort operates on a cashless system, with wristbands or room keys linked to your credit card for all purchases, from dining to arcade games. This system streamlines transactions but also means you need to be mindful of your spending. While the resort offers a comprehensive experience, some visitors have noted that unexpected add-on charges can appear on bills, so reviewing your invoice carefully is advised.
For budget-conscious travelers, consider visiting during the off-season or weekdays when prices are often lower. Booking packages that include activities or dining can also offer better value. Despite the costs, many guests find the overall experience to be a worthwhile investment for a memorable family getaway.
