Visitors find Blanco Shoals to be a wild and green natural area with clear river waters perfect for dogs and observing fish. However, many note challenges with parking, overgrown trails, and litter, suggesting it could benefit from more upkeep.
"I liked this place, but I can’t really explain why. It’s so random. The parking was hard to find. There weren’t really trails, just some tire tracks people followed. It seemed like only the Texas State students that live in the apartments right by it visit this place. There was litter all over the place. But it was wild and green! We took our dog, and it was pretty much free range for large dogs. All of them were off leash- which I love"

"I love it. The water is see through and I’ve seen some carps and alligator gars in there. I’ve also seen a rough green snake about 5ft long and today I saw a 5ft rattlesnake. It was hard to see because the trail wasn’t trimmed so it spooked me. It’s a good and short trail but lovely nature just watch out for that rattlesnake of the grass is over grown"

"The park is lovely, but could use some upkeep from the county, and more places where the Blanco River is viewable."
