What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the unique beauty of the coastal dune lakes and the transition from forest to beach. While many enjoy the walking trails, some find them confusing and challenging for biking due to sandy conditions. The park offers a peaceful escape with amenities like showers and restrooms.
"I don’t care what the signs say, this is NOT a bike trail. I was riding a beach cruiser(not the best idea) but half of the time I had to walk my bike through sand that slid around and had hidden roots that were easy to trip on. This trail might be good for walking, but the different paths are very confusing. Make sure you take a picture of the map at the beginning or you will wish you had. I might come back, but i will walk this time. There is a trail that goes near the lake, and it was pretty, but it was a long bike ride, and I can’t imagine how long it would take to walk."

"Nice sand and water and less people, hotels, and everything than Panama City. The trails were nice and quite exotic in terms of the plants. It was a little unexpected to see trails of that length. There is a coral reef here also 750ft from the shore, but we didn't get to see that part this time. The water is still manageable in November. They have showers to rinse and bathrooms, $5 for a car of 2-6 people. Restaurants closeby are excellent."

"This is a great trail for hiking and for bikes. We saw a couple of families on bikes and some trail runners too. We also saw a Pygmy Rattlesnake which we identified because of the notice at the trailhead. The entrance has been moved to the east and has a parking lot. It is a long trail so be prepared and bring plenty of hydration if you are doing it in the heat. A great way to break up a beach vacation!"
