Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Hakone Estate and Gardens for its serene beauty, meticulous maintenance, and authentic Japanese atmosphere, making it a peaceful escape. While parking can be challenging during peak times, the overall experience of tranquility, natural beauty, and cultural charm is highly valued.

"We visit this garden every year in the spring time for cherry blossoms 🌸 and every visit we enjoyed it. It’s very well designed and maintained. We felt the zen, peace, harmony and beauty of this Japanese garden. We especially enjoyed walking up to the moon viewing house where less people were around and quieter, and then walking down to the bamboo forest. The spring can be found not only in the flowers but also in bamboo shoots. Such a wonderful experience and a great way to connect to nature and relax.

Parking is difficult. The garden parking lot is not big enough for the spring crowd. We eventually found a street parking spot down the hill and walked 10-15mins up to the gate which was not bad."

"We had a fun time wandering around here and taking in the sites. Beautifully kept grounds, you feel like your back in time. My only negative is the houses/rooms aren't accessible, you can only look through windows and plexiglass. Otherwise the grounds are nice and its a peaceful experience. The woman at the front desk was wonderful. They have a cute little gift shop there where we found some nice souvenirs."

Eric Ninaltowski

"A wonderful and peaceful place to visit. Meander through calm nature, the sounds and sights of a waterfall, and a big delight is visiting the Koi fish pond. You have to check in at the gift shop first before entering Hakone Gardens. The cashier is delightful and charming."
