"Traveling for work. I don’t usually write reviews but many negative reviews about this hotel, I think some more level evaluation is needed. More character and charm than a big hotel chain. Very quiet, no complaints on cleanliness, staff interactions, or any other concerns. Pleasantly surprised for a small town amenity. If you want generic and predictable service like fast food, find a big hotel chain. I’m very picky about hotel showers, I travel a lot. Pressure and spread of shower as well as enclosure are above average-good. Not a luxury bathroom, but nicer than most chain hotels under twice the price. Not musty, not dirty, heat works. Hot breakfast, microwave & fridge not included, but a good nights rest is. If you need lodging right in the heart of this quaint town, and don’t expect a $300 a night hotel experience for much less, this place is for you."

"We were looking forward to our stay at The Gould Hotel, but unfortunately, parts of the experience didn’t meet expectations.
While the check-in process was fine, the overall cleanliness of our room left a lot to be desired. The bathroom, in particular, was disappointing. There were noticeable stains and mold spots on the ceiling, which gave the space an unkept and damp feeling. For the price and reputation of the hotel, this was very surprising and not what we expected.
The building itself has potential with its historic charm and good location, but the lack of proper upkeep really overshadowed the positives. A little more attention to maintenance and cleanliness would make a huge difference here.
At this time, I wouldn’t recommend The Gould Hotel unless improvements are made, especially in terms of deep cleaning and bathroom maintenance."

"I really wanted to like this hotel, but apparently the new owners have stripped the hotel of All amenities except clean and comfortable rooms. The restaurant is closed down, the bar is closed down, the vending machines are closed down, the ice machine is closed down, and the elevator is barely working. The Continental breakfast consists of 2 to 3-day-old English muffins and a bit of jam and coffee. The rooms were clean and comfortable, which is really the only positive thing I can say about the hotel. Word of advice - if you don't want to be really disappointed - find somewhere else to stay."
