What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Lava Island Falls for its unique geological features and the dynamic beauty of the Deschutes River's rapids. The opportunity to explore less-traveled trails and discover hidden viewpoints is a significant draw. However, some find the 'falls' to be more rapids than cascades, and the challenging terrain requires careful navigation and appropriate footwear.
"Loved this place! So many beautiful views! Waterfalls aren't huge, but still pretty to look at. Trails are pretty well labeled and there's lots of side trails that lead to even better views. Very quiet and peaceful place."

"If you know where to look you will find the waterfall! It really is there. Hence the name Lava ISLAND! Not recommended for an average walker. It’s steep with a boulder and log crossing. I hope you can balance. 100% worth it!"
Heather boyle
"The trail was more than just the falls, so much to see and learn about. Lave island, hunting shelters, wildlife and a few geocaches hidden in the area. Hood hike and beautiful scenery."
