What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise McCarran Ranch Preserve for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and the successful Truckee River restoration. It's a peaceful escape for dog walkers and nature enthusiasts. However, the lack of shade, presence of mosquitoes and ants, and occasional nearby construction noise can detract from the experience.
"Dog friendly trail
I would recommend visiting this trail when it is cooler outside since there is not a lot of shade, but the river is right there, and it is nice to let the pups swim. Keep an eye for the fencing among the trees, which is hard to see, and your furry friend might get hurt trying to chase some squirrels."
Dominique Rangel
"Lots of construction currently happening right next to the trail. Beautiful views, but could be so much nicer without the noise and construction happening next door."
Kortney Vega
"Hiked this trail at the end of March and experienced wonderful treasures. My husband and I spotted 2 coyotes, 2 mallard ducks (1 male and 1 female), hawks, sparrows, Canadian geese, and magpies. We also spotted a Prairie Dog that was perched up high on a rock! It was a beautiful day and we had the whole hiking trail to ourselves. I can't wait to get out into nature again!"
