What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
El Gaucho Winery is a highly-rated destination in the Texas Hill Country, praised for its authentic Argentinian steak, delicious empanadas, and generous wine pours. Visitors love the scenic views and the unique culinary experience, often describing it as a hidden gem. While service is generally good, minor improvements in attentiveness and detail could elevate the experience further.
"A unique fun retreat from Austin!
We enjoyed our two flights of whites and reds. The favorites were the White SB, Red CS. The red CS paired perfectly with my steak.
The chicken with potatoes was our favorite dish! The marinade, paired with the chimichurri was delicious.
The steak was also very tasty with the red wines. Cooked exactly as requested.
Beautiful view, and feels a bit like we're returning Argentina for a winery visit."

"We had such an amazing experience at El Gaucho! The view was amazing! We felt like we were in Italy. The food was great! The steak and empanadas were so delicious and clean! To top things off, the customer service was a 10/10! We highly recommend this spot!"

"This winery is a srene retreat hidden in the Spicewood/Lake Travis area of the Texas Hill Country. Rodrigo was our server and was very attentive, but not intrusive, and we appreciated his recommendations on wine and food. We split the Choripan appetizer, which was a sausage and bread plate, followed by the Entrana steak cooked medium. (Normally we prefer medium-rare, but medium was spot on for this cut of meat.) We had the grilled vegetables and the bread left over from our appetizer in addition to the steak which made for a perfect meal for 2 people. We shared a flight of three red wines. The pours on the flight were very generous, unlike so many wineries we've visited. We highly recommend El Gaucho Winery and ask for Rodrigo as your server. He was the best!"
