"St. John’s Episcopal Church truly lives out their mission and vision. My boyfriend and I first began watching the Sunday services through the livestream, and Father Lonnie immediately drew us in with his engaging sermons.
When we finally attended in person, I was honestly nervous. You never know what the environment will be like walking into a new church. But from the moment we stepped inside, we felt nothing but warmth. The congregation was kind, genuine, and welcoming...it felt like true belonging.
I also deeply appreciate how inclusive and diverse the church is; they welcome everyone, including LGBTQ+ members (they even do marriages for same-sex couples), with genuine love and affirmation. The congregation is beautifully diverse and truly for people from all walks of life, united by a shared love for Jesus Christ. That, to me, is exactly what Jesus would have wanted.
This church has reignited my faith in a way I didn’t even know I needed. Father Lonnie’s humor (I’ll never forget when he said "both Jesus and the great prophet Taylor Swift tells us to "shake it off" - I cackled), depth, and ability to connect scripture to everyday life make each service meaningful and refreshing. St. John’s is a place where you don’t just attend church: you experience community, compassion, and joy.
