"I visited the Kansas Museum of History and was moved by the history of this area. I learned that Kansas was actually the "Wild West" we saw in the cowboy western movies. The United States was in a time of terrible transition. I read actual letters written by Kansas Mothers to the President of the United States begging for some type of assistance. The Dust Bowl and the Great Depression took its toll causing death and destruction. Children were dying of starvation; families had to abandon their farms and move to cities to survive. It was a terrible time in US history. It you like history, this is the real deal!"

A beautiful place to walk around, staff were wonderful and the exhibits were quite grand. I am glad to see in the comments that it looks to be open again (even if limited times)."
