Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the primitive beauty and solitude of Headquarters Canyon, calling it an amazing and quiet experience. The slot canyon offers a cool escape from the desert heat, making it a rewarding hike for families and adventurers alike. However, the challenging access road and the ease of getting lost are noted drawbacks.

"Amazing. Nobody else around, very quiet. very primitive. Loved it. 30-60min hike single trip. Wear proper shoes, many thorns. Follow the trail. Easy to get lost. Many canyons around. Very try, carry enough water. Oh, driving along the unpaved road, recommend 4*4, i drove with my Odyssey, slowly and carefully pass at 2-3 V bottom, otherwise scratch bottom. i saw someone’s car bottom shell was junked along the roadside, might be scratched off broken when passing."

Woody Wang

"Awesome hike! Great for any group, even with kids. It is a little exposed and hot in the beginning, but you quickly enter the slot canyon where it gets shadier and cooler. You can go back pretty far into the canyon, until the end where the rock steeply rises up towards the top of the canyon. There are only a few parking spots here, so be respectful of where you park. Totally worth the drive out here as a part of a larger tour around the park."
