What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Spruce Flats Falls is a highly recommended, moderately challenging hike leading to a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. Visitors praise its scenic beauty and the refreshing water, noting it's often less crowded than other park attractions. While the trail is rugged with roots and rocks, requiring good footwear, the payoff is well worth the effort for most.
"Neat place! Moderate trail to a cool waterfall area. The trail is around 1 mile each way. It’s pretty rugged, a lot of roots and rocks; wear good shoes! The incline going to the falls isn’t terrible if you’re an experienced hiker, but for an average person you may need to rest a minute by the time you reach the top. Most of the trail is also 2-3 feet wide along the edge of the mountain with a steep drop off. We took our 5 kids, the youngest ones being 7 and 3. Definitely doable for kids. Be prepared to help younger kids over the rough terrain and keep a good hold to their hand.
Great place to splash around and play. There’s a deeper place to “swim” but it’s only 4 1/2 feet at the deepest point.
Overall a great experience!"

"Lots of ups and downs, but totally doable!
Round trip took about 1.5 hours with breaks. Saw a black bear in the parking lot - so exciting!
Plan at least 30 min to spend at the waterfalls, since the nature there is so relaxing
The water wasn’t too cold - if we had brought swimwear, we probably would have gone for a swim
Make sure to pay for parking in advance (probably online). We just used the America the Beautiful Pass and it worked - but there’s no parking pay machine, and the car next to us got a ticket"

"Loved this hike. It was manageable, we stopped and took a couple of small breaks, after some fairly steep climbs but it wasn’t too bad at any point. We had as young as a four year old and as old as 65 year old. The waterfall was gorgeous and the kids loved playing in it. We hung out at the falls for about an hour and were the only people there. We saw one group leaving as we were heading up to the falls and one group heading in as we were leaving. Was t too busy at all!"
