What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are pleasantly surprised by MOCA Tucson's engaging exhibitions, which often blend local and international contemporary art with relevant social themes. The unique former firehouse venue and the vibrant 'Third Thursdays' events are frequently praised, offering an accessible and dynamic art experience. While some find the museum relatively small, the quality of curation and the unique atmosphere make it a worthwhile visit.
"I had low expectations for this museum and I was pleasantly impressed by how well it was done. It had a great mix of local art as well as some ancient art fro Central America and South America. The art from the Andes was especially interesting. A good portion of the local modern art was about the immigrant community and the issues around immigration at the southern border. Appropriate to this area and a bit sad and depressing but well done without being over done."

"It was a great visit. I really like The space and how The artworks were implemented through the color shades. One of my favorite take outs from the museum were the “earth tattoo” made by an artist who combined her breast milk and the sand from local 🏜 desert."

"The Museum of Contemporary Art is making the most of its relatively small footprint, with distinct exhibitions such as “The Relevance of Your Data” and the Plein Air collection. The modern garage-style area at the entry is a versatile space for the Free Third Thursdays events, with indoor/outdoor flow allowing for music, food-truck access, and patio seating. A unique asset for Tucson’s downtown art scene!"
