Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the St. Augustine Cathedral for its historical significance, stunning Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, and beautiful stained glass windows. It's a cherished landmark offering a sense of peace and a connection to Tucson's past. However, some feel it leans more towards a museum experience than a quiet place of worship due to ongoing tours.
"Large cathedral with historical artifacts. They hold mass daily. The Cathedral has two organs and a choir. There is also a gift shop. Beautiful piece of history."
Adam Schwartz
"It’s beautiful but it’s barely a church. It’s a museum and tour stop basically. I was grieving and went here for solace and prayer. My prayers were interrupted by a tour guide who saw me praying but stood just feet away with a tour group in matching Jesus t-shirts and drowned out my prayers with his spiel. Intruding on my grief and communion with the divine. This is not a house of prayer. If you want to view statues dispassionately it’s the place to go. If you’re looking for God, he’s not at home."
Buck Bannister
"I love the fact that the priests are always very encouraging. When the children are loud. And that the seats lift off to accommodate wheelchairs at every corner."
