Standing at 📍Olmsted Point along Tioga Pass Road feels like stepping into another world. From here, you can spot the back of Half Dome, a view that few get to see and one that truly captures the grandeur of the Sierra Nevada. We had fun climbing the gigantic boulder rocks to get a better view of Half Dome . . . . . . #olmsted #olmstedpointyosemite #yosemite #yosemitenationalpark

Reviews Summary

Visitors are pleasantly surprised by Olmsted Point's unique charm, often finding it a quieter alternative to more famous Yosemite viewpoints. The distinct perspective of Half Dome and the opportunity to scramble on large boulders are frequently highlighted as enjoyable aspects. While parking can be challenging, the scenic drive and the stunning sunset views make it a worthwhile stop for many.

"This view isn't the iconic Tunnel View, nor is it the breathtaking view from Glacier Point, but it's has its own charm. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this spot. It's fairly quiet compared to the other locations, but it's still a lot of fun. You can climb on the rocks here for some pictures or just to enjoy a different perspective. You get to see Half Dome from a different angle. If you have a telescope, spotting scope, or even a really good pair of binoculars, you will be able to see the line of tiny little ants climbing up Half Dome in the distance."

Ariz Himani

"Had a great stop here early in the morning on a beautiful day at the end of May. Drive thru early in the day before it gets crowded.
The visitor center area was PACKED and there was very little available parking except farrr away. To be expected on a Saturday. The drive in and out was beautiful and worth it anyways!"

Serena Gelinas

"Incredible views of the valley. Great spot for photos.
Make sure to hike down the small path that takes you to the top of a big rock."
