What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Betty's Pies is a beloved North Shore institution, renowned for its wide selection of delicious, not-too-sweet pies. While the savory menu is considered decent, the pies, especially the 'Great Lakes' and various cream options, are the main draw. Visitors should be prepared for potential waits during busy periods, but the takeout window offers a convenient alternative for a quick treat.
"We decided to stop by on our way back to Duluth after reading the positive reviews. When we arrived, it was quite busy with a waiting time of 30-40 minutes.
We ordered Split Rock Fish & Chips and Hungry Jack Hot Beef, both to be just okay. We did like the sauce on the mash potatoes.
For the pies, we had the Great Lakes and Cheesecake. Both were definitely worth it. The crunchy topping on the Great Lakes pie added a great texture and we really enjoyed the balance of sweetness and tanginess in each bite. The Cheesecake was smooth and not overly sweet.
Would definitely recommend their pies for anyone interested to try this place."

"We passed by Betty’s Pies on our way to Splitrock Lighthouse, and my interest was piqued. On our way back to Duluth, I decided to check out what pies were offered. I saw that breakfast, lunch, and dinner were also served; so we decided to eat there.
The place was busy, and there was a 35-minute wait for a table. The wait was fine because they had a lot of benches outside. There is also a takeout window, so if you want to try a pie or shake right away you can do that.
The fish and chips we ordered was okay. My husband’s pulled pork sandwich was delicious though. For pie, we got the Great Lakes. I would say that I am glad we got this pie. It was not too sweet, and crunchy topping added a nice touch to the pie.
Service took a little bit, and I know it was busy.
Betty’s Pies is a great stop for tourists. I recommend checking them out for their pies especially the Great Lakes one."

"Stopped by because there was a lot of cars. Decided to take some slices to try.
2/10 oreo cream - not enough oreo taste but cookies were super crunch. Packing
10/10 cheesecake cream pie. Needs no other words
10/10 Reese's cream pie. Peanut butter and pie is the best mix
6/10 5 layer butterscotch. Should add a butterscotch drizzle as the flavour doesn't pop as much as I would have hoped
7/10 butterfinger cream pie. Felt lacking?
Overall only 5.25 for a slice not bad price and a nice snack between meals.
All of the pies were not too sweet which was also absolutely perfect and didn't overwhelm.
I recommend to try if you haven't unless you don't have a sweet tooth don't worry about missing much"
