What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the rich history and unique paniolo culture at Parker Ranch, with many highlighting the impressive koa wood homestead. However, some find the tours brief and wish for more access to the working ranch areas, suggesting an audio tour could enhance the experience.
"Tour the two historic homes of famous Parker Ranch, but by reservations only. Tour the last home and the first home of the Parker family. The original homestead is made entirely out of koa wood and there is nothing like it anywhere in the world. These were working ranch homes, nothing really fancy, but there are some surprises. The koa home is just amazing. You'll also see the carriage house, maybe some wild turkeys and horses too. Plenty of parking. This is a chance to better understand the history of the family dynasty that has shaped the Big Island for the past 150 years."

"3 stars for a museum historical site is ok. Not a lot of things but great history of the paniolas, Hawaiian cowboys from Spain. The woodwork in the adjacent building is 5 star."
Martin Courtney (Openplzdds)
"This is a neat tour to read about the history of the ranch and ranch owners. They should really create an audio tour instead of just paper pamphlets, not only for saving paper resources but also for equity of all visitors. The tour is short and won't take more than an hour. And disappointingly, you can't actually see any of the working ranch areas. They should really have a short route people can take a guided golf cart tour to working ranch areas as that would be something unique and add value to the experience. It was underwhelming overall and I would skip going here is pressed for time on the island. It's really not worth the price of admission."
