While some mention the owner's wife having a 'bite,' the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many eager to return.

"It's probably the second best (behind Lutsen) skiing area in Minnesota. They have plenty of marvelous black diamond runs and mostly quad chair lifts to negotiate them. Watch out for the owners wife. She has a bite."

"This place is awesome!! Weekend night skiing from 6-10pm for $39 bucks can’t be beat! I’ve avoided most of the local twin cities ski areas because they’re predominantly lame, but Welch definitely scratched the ski itch. Even on a Friday night nearly all runs were open, there were fun and steep runs, and the manufactured snow felt excellent.

Loved the slopes and the amenities here and can’t wait to come back!"

GM

"Great skiing, and snow boarding experience at Welch. The daily lift ticket was about $70 per person for 9am to 9pm. The lift ticket included all the runs at Welch. We also bought the rental package that included boots, poles, and ski's/boards and helmets if you ask for one."
