What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Wells Harbor Beach for its ample free parking and dog-friendly policies, especially the off-leash opportunities on sandbars at low tide. The calm harbor waters are ideal for families, and the adjacent park offers great amenities. Some find the beach area small when the tide is in, and leash rules can be a point of confusion for some dog owners.
"Plenty of free parking compared to nearby beaches. The beach itself is small and within a bay, so unfortunately not oceanside. Still a nice spot to lay in the sun and jump in. The website says no dogs from 9-5 in the summer but there were no signs at the beach trailhead. Several people had theirs so we felt okay bringing ours. We were happy to find this place after thinking we wouldn't be able to enjoy the beach at all due to dog ordinances. They say it's for Plovers but it's mostly for tourists. For dog owners visiting Southern Maine, Bayview in Saco is for sure dog friendly."

"We read other reviews and thought the beach was for dogs to be off leash. Unfortunately that wasn’t completely true. We did have our off leash but had to walk away from all others on the beach (people and dogs on leash). I normally would care about the walk but we had a lot of stuff with us and had to make a couple of trips to the place where we finally put our chairs."

"My pup loved it early in the morning nobody was around. Very quiet and a ton of parking"
