Reviews Summary

Mount Brown Lookout is a highly challenging but rewarding hike in Glacier National Park, offering breathtaking panoramic views that many find worth the strenuous effort. While the climb is demanding, the chance to see wildlife and the stunning vistas make it a memorable experience for determined hikers. The Mount Brown Lookout in York, WA, provides a more accessible and tranquil scenic viewpoint.

"This is a moderate to strenuous hike, depending on conditions. I hiked this early June 2024 and the trail was great, IMO. This trail has 4300+' of elevation gain in 5 miles. It is a long grind to the top. The last 400-500m were snow covered during my hike and caution should be used anytime in these conditions. I think the views are worth the suffering / grind. The last 1-1.5 miles is when the views put a smile on your face. I did see several goats and various critters, no bears. Bring plenty of water. The temps on the summit were quite brisk and the winds were blowing. It was a great day!"

"One of the most beautiful viewpoint in the west side of glacier national park.
I took around 6 hours back and fort (from sperry trail head). The starting of the mount brown trail head is a bit boring and can possibly make you desperate. However, the last mile is fantastic. Starting from the top view of fish lake, lake mcdonald, and the fire lookout. The last 300meters is very dangerous due to the snow that cover all the path. At the fire lookout, you will see the full lake mcdonald on the south ,mount standton and vaught on the west, east glacier in the north and mount brown summit on your east.

"We did not summit. I’ve thought about this trail in my nightmares for over a year now. I’ve never been more mentally challenged while hiking, but I will say it was a huge pivot in my fitness journey. BIG kudos to you if you have what it takes to get to the top. My husband and I both had to call it quits about 3/4 of the way through the hike. All along the way there’s still incredible views! (this trail also starts on the Sperry Trail and then breaks off about a mile in). Enjoy!"
