What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find St. Thomas Indian Mission a beautiful and peaceful site, offering stunning desert views and a unique spiritual atmosphere. While some appreciate the historical context, others suggest a critical approach to certain narratives. The friendly pastor adds to the welcoming experience.
"Toured the outside of the mission. Good 360 views. However, the placard below the statue (see photo) was disturbing. It states that Garcés 'gave his life for their souls'. Humans are absolutely not able to give their lives for the souls of anyone! Jesus Christ is the one and only entity who can and did give his life for souls! When we submit to the will of God, we are placing our souls in God's hands. The Holy Spirit is doing the work in us and in others and The Lord should be the ONLY one getting credit! This placard is certainly not Biblical based nor Spirit inspired."

"Very nice church! A little small given that it’s historic but a nice visit for an out-of-town visitor. Worth noting that at the time of this writing, all mass times posted on the website are in AZ time. Park across the street in the little strip of pavement that serves as a parking lot for the church. Seems like the former pastor, Fr. George, just retired, but the new guy (Fr. Antonio) seems promising."
