Grand Prismatic Spring overlook solo hike
Hi, I will be in the park 2 weeks from now by myself. I know hiking solo in yellowstone is not advised. Having said that is the Fairy Falls trail just up to the overlook a reasonable thing? I would love to see it and I understand it has plenty of people around. Most of the…

Grand Prismatic overlook in Yellowstone National Park. Make sure you don't skip this when visiting! Seeing it from above is amazing! You can just see the size of it compared to all the little specks of people on the boardwalk.
I'd recommend seeing it from above. It's a short loop trail. You can't see as much from the ground, and stinky sulfur blows into your face from the boardwalk.
Grand Prismatic Spring
I am planning on going to Yellowstone on Monday. Is it possible with this weather to see the beautiful colors of the Grand Prismatic Spring? Does anyone have recommendations for what time of the day is the best?

Grand Prismatic Spring Overlook Trail
I'll be in the park in mid-June, and I really want to do this trail, but I'm worried about the steep part, having just gotten a knee replacement. Is it steep like stairs, or do you have to scramble up it, or is it just walking uphill?

"This is a beautiful overlook point of the grand prismatic spring. The trail starts at the fairy fall trailhead. We went in the evening, and easily found a parking spot. Trail is not paved, it is made of gravel. Can take stroller almost to the end and then will have to carry the kids. View from top is beautiful, totally worth the hike."

"This is one of the iconic in Yellowstone, must see. Amazing round formations with layers of colors. Easy hike on paved black pebbles, wheelchair accessible, I saw people jogging, riding bikes on the trail. Then uphill narrower path, natural trail about 30 minutes to the overlook. The platform gave you a good view of the prismatic spring though few trees may block corners of the pictures."

"While we did love the view, there were lots of people. Not a bad hike & depending on time of day &/or temperature outside dictates how much of the colors you can see based on the amount of steam coming from the water. Worth the hike but bring your water & continue on the the fairy falls! Also, We arrived to grand prismatic around 9am on August 12 and took 1 of 2 open parking spots. By the time we got out stuff & excited the jeep, a line started forming of cars waiting for someone to leave for a parking space. Ensure you go early if you don't want to wait in line to park."
