What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Galería de Arte Nacional for its impressive collection of Venezuelan art and its completely free admission, making it a highly accessible cultural experience. While some note that parts of the building are still under development, the quality of the displayed art and the frequent special exhibitions are consistently highlighted as major draws.

"Love it. One of the top museum of Venezuela"

Osprey Expeditions

"Excellent option to spend a day"

Chino Salazar

"The new Galeria de Arte Nacional, which began construction in the 1990s, is a project that hasn't shine to its full potential. Part of the building is still not in use or incomplete (and ruinous), which makes its access unwieldy, going through a foul part of Avenida México, which is a diminished experience from the former Museum's plaza at the end of Parque Los Caobos. It seems woefully incomplete and rushed.

Having said that, the scope of art exposed in the premises, while limited, retains part of the classics of our artistic heritage. Important restorations and modelling, such as Reverón's Castillete, are laudable. A number of interesting retrospectives are frequently in place.

Alas, the Museum's infrastructure limitations, especially energy-wise, does not help to appreciate the art pieces. Moreover, there are very few sculptures, not many interactive or educative activities, and no souvenirs. More strikingly, some contemporary artists less akin to the Bolivarian revolution are not on display.

All in all, "Miranda en la Carraca" makes the visit worth it."
