"Dinh Vua Mèo was one of the most memorable places I visited in Hà Giang and absolutely worth a stop during the loop. The palace sits in a quiet valley near Đồng Văn, surrounded by mountains, and the setting alone already makes the visit special. Once inside, you walk through wooden halls, stone courtyards and rooms that belonged to the Vương royal family more than a century ago. The architecture is a unique mix of H’Mông, Chinese and French influences, and it still feels surprisingly intact.
The entrance fee is very affordable, only around 20,000–25,000 VND per person, and the site is open roughly from early morning until late afternoon. You only need about 30 minutes to one hour to explore everything, making it a perfect short stop before continuing the loop. There are small stalls outside selling snacks and drinks, and parking is easy if you arrive by motorbike.
One thing to keep in mind is that the palace does not have much written information. Signage is limited and not always in English, so without a guide you may miss some of the history behind the building. A few areas feel a bit worn down, but for me that added to the authentic atmosphere of an old mountain residence. If you expect a modern museum with explanations everywhere, this may feel a bit simple.
Overall, the visit was peaceful, culturally interesting and visually impressive. The quiet courtyards, the mountain backdrop and the sense of history make the palace stand out among the usual tourist stops. For such a low entrance fee and such a beautiful location, Dinh Vua Mèo is a great addition to any Hà Giang itinerary and I truly recommend visiting it"
