Ho Chi Minh Travel
Hi! I’ll be visiting Vietnam next week and spending most of my time in Ho Chi Minh City. I was wondering if there are any areas in HCMC that feel similar to Hanoi’s Old Quarter. I’m looking for old streets, historical buildings, and that kind of atmosphere. I won’t be able to…

H'mong lord's French style villa in Bắc Hà, Lào Cai Province, Vietnam
Why do older buildings in that area of the world (Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam) often have this layer of dark or soot around the edges (eg. the balcony trimmings on the ceiling all around)? Is it something to do with the rain season?

"If you want to just go for a walk, you can, it's free. If you want to take a room for the night - an amazing experience. These used to be the French villas during colonial times. Everything seems to be intact. It's like a museum!"

"This is a tranquil, beautiful, french-colonial styled / designed, and welcoming place. Has a cute puppy named GOLD. Really good for the price range of 26-35usd/ night depending on the seasons. The bed is very comfy. Fast wifi. Very good breakfast. No thing you can possibly need is missing: dryer , small face towels, safe lockers, 10/10 for business trip.
I just slightly not like the smell of anti mosquito thingy , but thats fine opening the windows can solve the problem."

"This was the only place we could find in Dalat with a reasonable sized room. The rooms are huge for the price, but that's because the buildings are old and in need of renovation.
All the facilities function perfectly, but the place feels old. The decor is old. The colours are old. The rooms are dark.
A good interior decorator could convert this place into a stunning resort.
Great place for large groups who can bring it to life. But a bit depressing for lonely singles or couples.
Very quiet at night. Good bed."
