I was at an aviation museum recently and they had a flight simulator set up. Nothing too elaborate, just two stations, each consisting of three monitors, a control yoke, throttle and rudder pedals. A staff member was showing a kid how to fly at one station and when I walked in I…

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre for its impressive collection of heritage aircraft and the exceptional knowledge and friendliness of its volunteer guides. The free entry is a significant draw. However, some reviews note that the display infrastructure could be improved, with poor lighting in some areas, and that amenities like the cafe may not always be available, especially on weekdays.

"Tried to attend an event but very poor planning by the organisers meant we queued for a pass but then had to queue again. Despite the effort getting there we left out of frustration before we were able to see anything. I'd liked to have seen some better crowd direction and instruction but it was aimless and frustrating. Free should not mean poor service. Booking and turning up early just left us at the back of a very long queue. I won't be bothering with open days again."

Margo Connell

"Wonderful facilities and great people. Most of the guides are down-to earth lovely, and funny people. They really know their stuff and they do love showing people around. It gives you a great insight into the aviation history of the RAAF, in specific RAAF base Amberely. Lots of heritage aircraft and aviation related equipment, and merchandise."

Lucas Smith Hotston

"Very cool planes and a lot of information about them. Cafe and gift shop at entrance. Needs pass which you need to acquire at the start, simple process. Very friendly staff, no complaints about anything really. Very nice hangers and wow these planes are huge compared to what they look like in the air. I took some photos to show the inside of the heritage centre."
