"Nice little walk along Gorge Rd and a 300m detour to the viewpoint.
I guess that back in the day there was one tree, as the whole area was decimated for timer by the miners. So what we have now is regrowth, which kind of shows you just how strong nature is.
Anyway, lots of great views to be had over the valley below and of the huge granite mass of this hill."

The Lookout if on foot can easily be reached by the carpark of Powder Magazine compound carpark also by bike...
If driving your vehicle the only entrance point is off the main Sydney Rd near old Chiltren Rd where you can find Gorge Rd which starts at the Golden Horseshoe monument, (this is a one way road)!
The One Tree Lookout most people theses days see more than one tree, in the 1850s it is written that there was just that one big tree grown out of the granite that could be seen from miles away!
The granite platform is one to be seen with the beautiful views looking down over the valley below...
Take your time and make sure to have a camera with you the surrounding bushland of Beechworth is truly amazing!

So normally this would be a one star review. But the view from the look out (beyond the many trees) was something to really enjoy especially after the nice walk up from the power magazine.
So despite my disappointment over the arboreal abundance, it was a nice place to visit."
