What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently awestruck by the immense size and age of the swamp gums on the Tall Trees Walk, describing it as a mesmerizing and humbling experience. The short, accessible loop is a highlight for many, though parking can be a challenge. Combining it with the nearby waterfalls offers a more extensive and rewarding nature immersion.
"This is one of several 60 Great Short Walks of Tasmania trails situated near the Mount Fields National Park Visitor Centre. It is accessible by way of the Lake Dobson Road where you find a small car park area. The trail is a short 1km loop through dense forest with huge, eucalyptus trees some being several hundred years old and reaching 70-80+ metres in height. The trees are very impressive both those standing firm as well as several ancients that have long fallen yet continue to show there extraordinary size lying on the forest floor.
Another way to visit the Tall Trees is to complete the informal 'Three Falls Circuit' which combines the Short Walks to Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Tall Trees and Lady Baron Falls a nice loop trail starting at the Park Visitor Centre."
