"Fabulous beach for surfing small and medium waves. I've been both to Warrnambool Flume/Surf Beach and Port Fairy East Beach, and Port Fairy takes the medal. The waves are more visible (easier to predict if they can be surfed) even with winds from S/SW, and the ocean is, on average, quieter, thus allowing the paddle to be easier and less tiring. Warrnambool Beach ocean conditions are usually more unstable; waves that seem to be surfa-able but suddenly turn out to not break at all or have three to four waves at once, all of them going in different directions. In contrast, Port Fairy's waves are straight and consistent, facing towards one direction.
Ah, and the water is so clean! If the weather is very rainy and windy, seaweed could be brought to the sand and onshore, but not as much as Warrnambool's beach. (Sorry, Warrnambool!)"
