1000 Steps Kokoda Track Outdoor Gym🚶‍♀️ 📍1A Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd, Tremont VIC 3785 If you want to experience this kind of misty atmosphere, you should come on a cold and rainy day. I started hiking at 4:30 PM and got this view. it was absolutely stunning. The scenery and overall vibe were amazing, but make sure you’re well-prepared for the 9°C weather and rain. 18/5/2025 #1000stepskokodawal...

👣 Kokoda Track Memorial Walk 📍1000steps Dandenong Ranges National Park Take Belgrave train from Flinder Street, get off at Upper Ferntree Gully Station, you would see the signs for 1000 steps. We went up from the 1000steps track and came back from the Lyrebird track. It was hard when climbing the stairs, but the distance is not so long.I didn't record video coz i was too forcus😋. How hard is Kokoda memorial track?

I’m keen to do the 1000 steps with dad on Monday but he’s 64 so I’m just nervous it may be a bit strenuous for him. He did the cape woolamai track in Phillip island fine just nervous this might be a bit of a step up (pardon the pun). Who here has done it and knows how…

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning rainforest scenery and the rewarding fitness challenge of the 1000 Steps. Many appreciate the historical significance and the availability of rest stops. However, some note the lack of bins and the need for better multilingual signage regarding rubbish disposal.

"Love doing the 1000 steps, it’s been a goal of me and my partners to do these once a week to gain fitness back. Beautiful scenery and you can go at your own pace with lots of rest stops. A lovely way to spend an afternoon."

"Absolutely stunning walk, especially in winter!
The 1000 Steps walk was magical, the vibrant orange pore fungus stood out beautifully against the lush green forest, making the scenery feel like something out of a fairy tale. We were lucky enough to spot a lyrebird near a peaceful little spot by the creek, which felt like a hidden fairyland. Truly a beautiful and serene experience 😍

It wasn’t too busy either, so my husband and I could really soak in the sounds of the forest and enjoy the walk at our own pace.

One thing worth mentioning - there were no bins near the picnic areas. We ended up picking up a lot of rubbish during our walk but had to carry it out ourselves. While we’re more than happy to do that, it’s sad to see that others don’t, and just toss their rubbish into nature. There is a sign asking visitors to take their rubbish with them, but it’s quite small and only in English.
It might help to add a few more signs, in multiple languages, to reach international visitors as well.

Big thank you to the rangers for maintaining and protecting this beautiful place!!! We’ll definitely be back to explore more 💚🐛🌿🦜🍃🍄"
