What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the unique experience of exploring René Magritte's former home and viewing his extensive collection of paintings, photos, and films. However, some express disappointment that many of his most famous works are often on loan internationally. The free admission on certain days is a significant draw for budget-conscious travelers.
"Great museum located in the house where the artist once lived. The museum is small and quiet. I liked that it wasn’t crowded it so I really enjoyed visiting and taking my time exploring."
dahiana castro
"A surprisingly interesting addition to the Magritte canon, and on top of that a 1+1 museum as you also have the chance to marvel at 20th century abstract art. You start your visit to René Magritte's House in the adjacent building, with the colourful collection of the Abstract Art museum which focuses on Belgian artists and then you enter the Magritte house. Beside the interesting memorabilia and some original art you will get the chance to see the reproduced copies of Magritte paintings that were destroyed in the past in various instances, most famously during a bombing in London in 1940. The museum is easily accessible by Tram line 93 from the centre of Brussels."
Nikos Parastatidis
"Very cool. Don’t skip if you love art.
Be forewarned tho- not a lot of Magritte pieces, mostly about his life and other Belgium surrealist artists of the era."
