What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Horto Waterfall for its refreshing waters and beautiful natural setting within Rio de Janeiro. While some find the main waterfall a bit small or crowded, many appreciate the opportunity for a quick hike and a dip. The more challenging trails offer a rewarding experience for the fit, and adventure activities like abseiling are a major draw.
"Really small hike but requires a bit of climbing so you should be fit to hold your own weight. Nice refreshing water. Not too cold. Great for a weekend trip"
Fabian Genell
"Here is one of the several entrances to Tjiuca Park, where the Horto waterfalls complex is located. There are several - (1) Quebra, (2) Chuveiro, (3) Jequitiba, etc. They are located on the Solar da Imperatriz-Parque Lage section of the Transcarioca trail.
The first waterfall (Quebra) here is right at the entrance. A rather difficult trail leads to the next 2: Chuveiro ('shower waterfall) and Jequitiba, only for physically fit people and in proper non-slip footwear. Not suitable for small children.
The path is steep, rocky, requires a bit of climbing in several places and sticking to the chain.
After 3 waterfalls, the trail joins the Transcarioca trail and becomes a bit easier."

"Nice natural area in the city.
The waterfall is man-made and full of family and children which sucks, but you can hike up a bit and get to a quieter part."
