What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Banff Gondola for its spectacular panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies and the well-managed operation. The accessible boardwalk to Sanson's Peak and the summit amenities are also highlights. However, the high ticket price is a recurring point of concern for many, with some suggesting it's a significant investment.
"Easy to get to as there is direct transport from Banff main street. The gondola operation is well run as when you buy your ticket you are given a time to go up the mountain and you nominate a time to come back down so it is very orderly and no massive lines. It's a nice scenic journey to the top and once there the views are spectacular. There's a big boardwalk with viewing platforms for taking plenty photo's. There are also places to eat and drink at the top. Great experience not to be missed."

"The Banff Gondola offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Canadian Rockies. The ride up Sulphur Mountain is a stunning experience in itself, with panoramic views that get more breathtaking with every passing minute. Once at the summit, a whole new world opens up.
The state-of-the-art interpretive center provides fascinating insights into the local history and geology. The boardwalk to Sanson's Peak is a must-do, providing a gentle hike that rewards you with 360-degree vistas of the Bow Valley. I could have spent hours up there just soaking it all in.
You can see six mountain ranges at once, which is absolutely incredible. The food options at the summit are great, and enjoying a meal with that view is a highlight in itself. The staff were friendly and professional, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.
Whether you're visiting Banff for the first time or a returning traveler, the Gondola is a non-negotiable part of your itinerary. It's an iconic attraction for a reason. The price is well worth it for the views and the experience. Don't forget your camera, because every angle is a postcard-worthy shot.
I went during the summer, but I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the winter, covered in snow. This trip was a perfect way to appreciate the sheer scale and beauty of Banff National Park. If you want to see the best of Banff from above, look no further than the Banff Gondola."

"The Banff Gondola is absolutely worth experiencing at least once. The views on the ride up are breathtaking — easily some of the most beautiful you’ll ever see — and the gondolas themselves are spacious and surprisingly comfortable. The ride is smooth and fun, and once you get to the top, the scenery gets even better. The views from the summit and the boardwalk are truly mind-blowing and make for an unforgettable experience.
The only downside is the price. At $90 per person, it’s a tough pill to swallow, especially for two people — you’re looking at nearly $200 just to get up there. And that doesn’t even include lunch, coffee, or souvenirs at the top, so it’s easy to spend well over $100 per person for the whole experience.
That said, the views are so incredible that it almost feels worth it. If you can justify the price, this is definitely a must-do activity in Banff."
