Visitors generally praise the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex for its spacious aquatic centre, friendly staff, and good value, especially with late-night pool discounts. Families appreciate the quality of ice skating lessons. However, some find the jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna to be too small, and occasional issues with gym equipment maintenance have been noted.

"I love it here! Sometimes quite crowded but it’s a super non judgemental pool, with lots of space, different sections and after 9pm it’s 2$
I come here 2x a week with my fiancée, and we always look forward to it. Great exercise. The lifeguards are super sweet as well."

"It was a very good aquatic center — spacious, with 8 swim lanes and two separate pools. The changing rooms and showers were large and well-maintained, and the lockers were convenient. There were enough showers and washrooms available. One of the best parts was the balcony area, where you could relax on the chairs in the open air between rounds before heading back inside. It was also great that they had a diving board.
Unfortunately, the jacuzzi was extremely small and could only accommodate a few people at a time. I didn’t like the design at all — practically half of it was unusable.
The steam room and dry sauna were also very small, in my opinion only suitable for 5 to 7 people, which doesn’t match the size of the facility or the number of visitors. As a result, they were basically unusable. The steam room wasn’t functioning properly either — the steam was turning on too infrequently. I waited about 10 minutes for it to start, but it never did, so I left without being able to use it. Also, there was only one cold shower available, which was quite limiting."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the main pool is a hit, be mindful that the jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna are quite small and might not be ideal for families during busy periods. Exploring the Aquatic Centre
While the aquatic facilities are generally well-regarded for their size and amenities, some guests have noted limitations. The jacuzzi is described as quite small, accommodating only a few people and having a design that makes a significant portion unusable. Similarly, the steam room and dry sauna are also compact, suitable for only 5-7 individuals, which can lead to them being unusable during peak times. Reports of the steam room not functioning optimally have also been mentioned.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience in the aquatic centre is positive, with ample showers and washrooms, and a generally well-maintained environment. The availability of private (universal) showers is a plus, though a short wait might occur during busy periods.
Gym and Fitness at Poirier
However, it's worth noting that some user feedback suggests that gym equipment maintenance might not always be up to par, with mentions of broken equipment not being repaired. While this doesn't seem to be a widespread issue, it's something to be aware of. If you're particular about having brand-new or perfectly functioning equipment for every exercise, it might be worth a quick inspection upon arrival.
Despite potential equipment concerns, the gym remains a functional and accessible part of the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, catering to a variety of fitness needs within the community.
