What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery are mixed, with many praising its serene atmosphere and the beauty of its newer sections. However, significant dissatisfaction arises from strict decoration policies that lead to the removal of personal items, and concerns about inconsistent grounds maintenance in older areas. Visitors emphasize the need for clearer rules and more empathetic enforcement.
"I went to the grave site of my loved one today only to face the heartbreaking scene that almost all the beautiful potted and fake flowers and ornaments I purchased with love were gone. The cemetery claims they remove "prohibited" items to “maintain the beauty of the grounds and keeping the environment serene.” However their behaviour of throwing fresh potted plants and carefully selected items for loved ones in garbage is in contradiction with serenity and beauty and it's more about creating a soulless, hostile environment. Their prohibited items list is unclear, yet almost everything I placed at the grave was removed — the potted plants and the plastic solar lights were placed just beside the site, and the battery-operated candles and an angel were put on top of the stone, all removed. All of these items were completely safe, respected, non-glass, non-breakable, clean, and beautiful. I go there often as caring and beautifying the Graves of my beloved family heals me, I personally water the grass with water can, remove leaves, cut the grass around that area, remove weeds and make sure the site looks beautiful. People walking by often stop to compliment how cared-for and peaceful it looks. I don't understand how battery operated candles and an little angel put on the gravestone can be considered prohibited.
My beautiful fake flowers were removed multiples of times, since the "rules" say “fresh flowers only,” but most families cannot afford fresh flowers every day, and they wilt quickly under the scorching sun of the summer, heavy rain . And we have to hunt for watering cans all over the cemetery, and when we find one, they often have holes.
They talk about beauty and serenity but, the older sections of the cemetery are a mess. The grass is dead, the ground is uneven, weeds are overgrown everywhere, and some trees need serious attention . There are graves with old fake flowers that have been sitting there for months discolored , some graves covered in debris and dirt that are never cleaned, and some potted plants are tripped over regularly. Yet most of my carefully placed, safe, respected, non-glass, non-breakable, clean, and beautiful items were removed. If the concern is truly beautifying and creating serenity why don't you clear the actual mess. My grave now doesn't look beautiful it looks bare and depressing, and I can barely look at it and even go there, and this was my only solace and sanctury to find peace by honoring and beautifying the grave of my loved ones in a practical way .
If the cemetery truly cared about beauty, they would clean the neglected graves instead of punishing families who maintain and care for their loved ones’ resting places. Removing respectful items from graves that are well-kept is not only unfair — it shows a complete lack of humanity. These are sacred sites, not regular and public parks. They are sanctuaries for families mourning their loved ones, and they hold deep emotional significance for those of us visiting.
When cemetery staff do any work, many times dirt, leaves and debris get pushed onto the stones, so have to go there often to clean the mess. Garbage cans smell like dog feces. I’ve seen dogs running over graves, urinating on them, and owners throwing balls for them. This is not a regular park — it is a sacred, emotional space, and it deserves respect.
The rules are unfair, rigid, and resemble a dictatorship, enforced with no logic. Families who care for graves should not be punished, while the cemetery itself neglects the grounds and disregards the emotional and spiritual significance of these spaces. Removing angels, battery-operated items, potted plants, and solar lights — everything that was safe, respected, non-glass, non-breakable, clean, and beautiful — is cruel, disrespectful, and inhumane.
The cemetery should be maintaining the grounds properly, supporting families who care, and showing basic respect and humanity for the sacred sites. This is about more than rules — this is about honoring loved ones, and right now, the cemetery is failing on every level."

"March 30th, spring season and ALL the outdoor faucets are shut off. Everybody looking for water for their fresh flowers, plants or just to clean the markers but no water anywhere. Too many rules and restrictions but the cemetery doesn't even accomplish its basic tasks."

Understanding Cemetery Regulations
This strict enforcement, coupled with a perceived lack of maintenance in older sections, leads to a feeling of unfairness among those who diligently care for their loved ones' graves. The emphasis on 'fresh flowers only' also poses a financial and practical burden for many families, especially during harsh weather conditions. The inconsistency between the strict rules for personal items and the visible neglect in some areas is a recurring theme in visitor feedback.
For those planning a visit with the intention of decorating, it's paramount to prioritize items that are explicitly allowed. Simple, natural elements are often the safest bet. If in doubt, it's always best to contact the cemetery administration directly for clarification on their policies.
Grounds Maintenance and Visitor Experience
Water access is another practical concern. During certain times of the year, outdoor faucets may be shut off, making it difficult for visitors to water plants or clean markers. The watering cans provided are sometimes found to be in poor condition or are scarce. This lack of basic amenities can detract from the overall visitor experience, especially for those who travel to maintain their loved ones' resting places.
Despite these challenges, many visitors still find the cemetery to be a place of peace and beauty, particularly during seasons like October when the foliage is vibrant. The presence of numerous flower bouquets contributes to a garden-like atmosphere. However, the cemetery's role in maintaining a serene environment is questioned by some when basic upkeep appears lacking in certain areas.
Emotional Significance and Respect
This emotional significance is often at odds with the cemetery's strict regulations and perceived lack of humanity in enforcing them. The removal of items that hold sentimental value, even if they are safe and non-damaging, can feel like a disregard for the grieving process. Visitors emphasize that these are not just public parks but deeply personal spaces that deserve a higher level of respect and empathy from management.
Concerns about dogs running on graves and owners not controlling them further highlight a perceived lack of respect for the sanctity of the site. Visitors urge the cemetery to prioritize maintaining a respectful and solemn atmosphere, ensuring that the grounds are well-kept and that all visitors are mindful of the emotional weight of the location.
