What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Keillor House Museum for its knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides who bring history to life, even making contemporary art engaging. The collection of unique Victorian artifacts, like moustache mugs and human hair wreaths, is a definite highlight. The museum's seasonal events, particularly the haunted house, are also highly recommended for a fun and memorable experience.
"Visited the lovely Keillor House in Dorcester, New Brunswick and was given an excellent tour by one of the enthusiastic and knowledgeable young guides. The home was built by a yeoman farmer from Yorkshire (John Keillor) who found success in New Brunswick. The house is filled with fascinating artifacts from the Victorian period - moustache mugs (so tea didn’t get on a man’s waxed moustache); an ice cream mould in the shape of a pickle (for fancy ice parties); and a wreath made out of human hair (a traditional Victorian “craft”). Museum also includes the coach house which is a penitentiary museum, an interior of a local Masonic lodge and the textile museum (spinning, weaving, looms, etc). Very interesting and well worth a visit!"

"Went for the Illusion of Self Exhibit, which was a disappointment. Luckily, an energetic, knowledgeable tour guide saved the day and made the borderline interesting very interesting. She even did her best to make that art installation interesting. 2 of these stars belong to her specifically."
