Visitors consistently rave about the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, calling it a 'highlight of our trip to Canada' and an 'adventure of a lifetime.' The abundance of wildlife, including grizzly bears, whales, and eagles, combined with the stunning scenery, makes for an unforgettable experience. The knowledgeable guides and well-organized tours are frequently praised.
"I spent many hours researching bear lodges and so glad we visited Khutz. It is friendly, small, clean, comfy, great food, wonderful & knowledgeable staff. The adventure starts at 7.30am leaving Prince Rupert on a high powered boat into the wilderness, straight out to see bears. We stayed for 4 days and watched bears twice a day everyday, humpback whales, sealions, seals, bald eagles, kingfishers, loads of gulls and loads of salmon. It was the highlight of our 4 week trip to Canada."

"A fantastic day with Prince Rupert Adventure Tours seeing not only bears but bald eagles, seals and humpback whales not to mention the magnificent scenery"

"We drove to Prince Rupert from Jasper, with stopover at Smithers. The route was very very picturesque, and 100% worth it. We took the Prince Rupert Adventure tours, which was amazing. The crew were constantly giving a commentary. We saw a number of grizzly bears, humpback whales bubble feeding and lots of bald eagles. Totally worth the trip."

📸 📸 Photography Tips
Use a telephoto lens to capture distant wildlife. A fast shutter speed is crucial for freezing motion, especially for bears and birds in flight. Consider shooting in RAW for maximum editing flexibility.
A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a good telephoto lens (e.g., 100-400mm or longer) is ideal. A sturdy tripod or monopod can help with stability, though often not practical on a boat. Bring extra batteries and memory cards.
Generally, photography is allowed, but always be mindful of your surroundings and your guide's instructions. Avoid using flash, as it can disturb wildlife.
Early mornings and late afternoons often provide the best light, with softer shadows and warmer tones. This is also when wildlife tends to be most active.
Drone usage is typically restricted in protected wildlife areas to avoid disturbing animals. Always check with your tour operator and local regulations before considering drone use.
