What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere of Point Traverse Lighthouse and the Old Mission Peninsula. The historic lighthouse, combined with the charming vineyard-lined drive and lake access, makes for a memorable experience. Some note that the water clarity directly at the lighthouse isn't ideal, but clear swimming spots are nearby.
"We like to go for walks there its very nice lots of places to swim. Water is shallow in some spots but its nice. The only thing is there are people who ignore the signs saying dogs need to be on a leash, other than that its really nice there beautiful scenic views place to put boats in the water and people can fish too. The lighthouse is neat built in 1800s there is also a bird sanctuary we hope to see those trails at some point. Definitely recommend."

"What a view - and very quiet. Water is not clear at the lighthouse, but just a short walk away, you can find a great underwater plateau of crystal clear water."
Guy Moreau
"Great views of Lake Ontario, quite and peaceful walk along the limestone cobble beach. Lots of fresh water clams shells, sea glass and unique driftwood pieces. Plenty of photo opps at this historic lighthouse erected in 1881.
The area is known as the “Graveyard of Lake Ontario” because of the many shipwrecks that lie offshore of the lighthouse wrecked on the rocky shoals."
