On Selkirk Trestle looking across to Gorge Hospital and Banfield Park
My favourite part of my morning bike ride is when I get to Selkirk and ride over the Trestle. I see something different every day with the tides, birds, sea animals, sometimes even spooky fog. Always so beautiful and peaceful and it makes me feel lucky and humbled to be able to…

Cycling on the Goose and Selkirk Trestle - conditions?
My husband really wants to get back to commuting to work via bike. He goes via the Goose from around Banfield Park, over the trestle. Is that doable again? It was a mess after the snow. Thanks!
Commuting from James bay to VGH
Hey everyone I am moving to Victoria, I’m just curious if a bike or an e-bike would suffice for commuting from James bay to the VGH hospital? I’ll be working at both hospitals and I know RJH is close by, but I’ve never been to Victoria and I see the VGH is further. Trying to…

E-bike riders between Banfield and the Selkirk trestle: a rant
I got hit by an e-biker (e-cyclist?) on my bike today. I’ll be missing a day of work (and income) tomorrow because of them. That path is extremely windy and hilly and is a pedestrian path too! Gravel pathways = difficulty stopping when you’re going 30km/hour. Slow down.

"I started my day with a refreshing morning walk from my hotel to Selkirk Trestle, and it was absolutely worth it. The trail leading to the trestle is well-maintained and peaceful, with scenic views of the Gorge Waterway and plenty of spots to pause and take in the natural beauty. Took full advantage of my DSLR & Phone. The trestle itself is a charming wooden bridge that offers a great vantage point for photos and quiet reflection.
It’s a perfect spot for families, joggers, or anyone looking to enjoy a calm start to the day. I saw a few kayakers on the water and locals walking their dogs, which added to the friendly, laid-back vibe. There’s easy access from the Galloping Goose Trail, and parking nearby was convenient.
Highly recommended for a short, scenic walk that blends nature and local charm. A hidden gem in Victoria!"

"A wonderful place to take a walk at. This was part of a great Vancouver Island railway history and now serving as a bridge. It always has a very beautiful appearance so it makes a wonderful location for photography and videography. Best time to visit is during the golden hour."
Kushal Panchal
"Part of an old old railway system, this is now near the beginning of the Galloping Goose biking and walking trail that leads from downtown to Uptown when it then splits into to trails following old train track towards the western communities or north towards Sidney. This trestle is the only non vehicle oriented crossing of the gorge waterway. From the trestle you can see the little island of rock between the bridge and the canoe rental area."
