I visited Easter island in 22 for 28 amazing days. I went primarily to explore the ruins under and surrounding the Moai. What I found was so much more. I’d love to start discussions and answer any questions about the island, it’s culture and heritage along with other knowledgeable individuals.

This was the only other Ahu that closely resembles that of Ahu Vinapu. This is Ahu Te Peu

Reviews Summary

Visitors find Ahu Te Peu to be a historically rich site with diverse ruins and intriguing lava tube caves. The extensive nature of the settlement and the unique subterranean exploration are highlights. However, the lack of onsite information and the potentially challenging conditions within the caves are noted drawbacks.

"This review begins at Ana Te Pahu and goes to the ocean, following the lava tube/cave (Ana) to the sea. The caves are extensive with multiple rooms and cooking areas and gardens. It can be very muddy and slippery, so good footwear and a flashlight would go a long way."

Bill Melcher

"Te Peu is the site of a large old settlement with several different types of archaeological ruins spread around an area of above 100m²: a platform (ahu) next to the ocean, the base stones (paenga) of many former houses, circular garden enclosures (manavai), carved out stones for collecting rainwater (taheta) and stone cooking pits (umu). The large number and variety of artefacts makes the site well worth visiting."

Christopher Winestock

"About 20 min walk from the carpark. Not a lot of information posted here... Might be best explored with a guide."
