Guide to Visiting the Great Wall of Beijing

Great Wall from Beijing

Hi! I'm gonna visit Beijing from august 18 to 22 and really want to go to the Great Wall. I'm aware that it'll be extremely hot and probably crowded. Which section do you recommend me to visit? I was thinking about Jinshanling because I read that it is way less crowded…

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Deshengmen Arrow Tower for its historical significance and the stunning panoramic views it offers of Beijing. Many appreciate the affordable entry fee and the opportunity to step back in time. However, some note that the climb can be strenuous and that the surrounding area is undergoing development, which can affect the immediate ambiance.

"This Arrow Tower is as Majestic as any ancient building in Europe if not much stronger and more impressive. From the front of this building is the 877 bus that bring you to Badaling Great Wall of China. Paying cash is 12 yuan but using the subway/bus card is only 6 yuan!!! The first service is from 6 am and last is 12 noon. For those who wants to go to Great Wall of Badaling is pays to go very early if you wants to have time to visit the Emperor's Tomb and burial site taking another bus at Badaling front gate."

"Deshengmen is a city gate that was once part of Beijing's northern city wall. It is one of Beijing's few preserved city gates and now stands as a landmark on the northern 2nd Ring Road. Deshengmen is now a major transportation node in northern Beijing. The gate complex is surrounded by the Deshengmen bridge, a rotary overpass that channels traffic from the 2nd Ring Road to the Badaling Expressway. The Expressway bus from Beijing to Badaling Great Wall starts from this Deshengmen bus station."

Isuru Dissanayake

"Nice place, and many bus routes underneath that go to many different notable locations like the Great Wall"
