What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
China Snow Town is widely praised as a magical, fairytale winter wonderland, especially at night when illuminated by colorful lights. Visitors are captivated by the unique 'mushroom snow' houses and the pristine snowy landscapes. However, the extreme cold is a significant challenge, and the village can become very crowded during peak season.
"A remote quiet village tugged in the mountain is transformed into a fairy tale village during winter when all rooftops are snow capped. The place is a truly magical wonderland especially at night when colorful lights are turned on. The plank walkway along the mountain slope gives a very good vantage view of the village and to enjoy its famous white rooftops closely. The white snow capped is so thick and in layers that it looks like a marshmello. There are many outdoor activities especially for young people to enjoy. For me, a stroll along the village street with puffed snow is simply enjoyable and relaxing. In the evening when the light is on, the village is packed. There are also a concert and fireworks to light up the night sky. It is strongly recommended to come and stay for a night when visiting Harbin. It takes 5 hours to reach by bus."

The Magic of 'Mushroom Snow'
The visual impact of these snow-capped roofs is amplified by the village's setting. Tucked away in the Shuangfeng Wood Farm, the natural environment contributes to the pristine white blanket that covers everything. When illuminated at night, the 'mushroom snow' houses, along with the glowing lanterns, create a truly enchanting and fairytale-like atmosphere that many travelers find unforgettable.
Experiencing Snow Town at Night
The illuminated village offers a completely different perspective and experience compared to its daytime appearance. The peaceful silence of the snow is replaced by a festive, almost magical, energy. Travelers often describe it as stepping into a real-life fairytale, with the glowing lanterns casting a warm light on the pristine snow. For photographers, the nighttime offers unique opportunities to capture the charm and wonder of Snow Town.
Dressing for Extreme Cold
Footwear is equally important. Insulated, waterproof boots with good traction are a must to navigate the deep snow and icy conditions. Many visitors also recommend bringing extra socks, preferably wool or thermal. Beyond clothing, consider bringing hand and foot warmers, which can be a lifesaver in the biting cold. Keeping electronics, especially camera batteries, warm is also vital, as the cold can significantly reduce their lifespan.
