Reviews Summary

The House of Marin Držić offers a deep dive into the life of Croatia's most famous Renaissance playwright. While praised for its informative content and inclusion in the Dubrovnik Pass, some visitors find the exhibition text-heavy and lacking interactive elements. It's best suited for those with a keen interest in literature and history.

"This was part of the Dubrovnik Pass and we were passing by so thought we'd take a look in, but I'm sad to say it's a total waste of time. I'm sure it's very worthy and that he's an important figure in Dubrovnik's cultural history but if you want visitors to engage with his story then you really need to freshen up the exhibition and make it more interactive/interesting. There's plenty of reading on each floor, but it's pretty overwhelming."

Mat Bienczyk

"This is a very small museum included in the Dubrovnik pass. Whilst there's very little "physical material" items, objects etc, there is a lot of information display on a chronological sequence of boards about the multifaceted life of this man. Noted as the most famous playwright in Croatian history, he also entered the priesthood, was an administrator and a skilled musician and writer."

Miles Macdonald

"How great that this small museum is part of Dubrovnik Pass. It was a pleasant visit, in which we were informed about the importance of Marin Drizc on literature, the man dubbed also as the Shakespeare of Croatia."
