Zajc Rijeka's stunning Neo-Baroque architecture and the historical significance of its early electric lighting and Klimt frescoes. Some minor suggestions for modernization exist, but the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive.
"The history of this theater began in 1885, when it opened as Teatro Comunale (Municipal Theater). In 1913, it was renamed Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Verdi, and in 1946, it became known as Narodno kazalište (National Theater). In 1953, it received its current name in honor of Ivan Zajc, a composer from Rijeka. The theater was built in the Neo-Baroque style, designed by architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. Its exterior is adorned with sculptures by Austrian sculptor Reinhold Völkel, while the ceiling inside features frescoes painted collaboratively by Franz Matsch, Gustav Klimt, and Ernst Klimt. It was also the first building in Rijeka to be equipped with electric lighting. Today, the theater hosts four artistic divisions—Croatian drama, Italian drama, opera, and ballet—and offers a wide range of performances and programs that contribute to the cultural life of the community and its audiences."

"Nice historic theater. It has impressive architectural details from the both inside and outside, but could be made more energy efficient and technologically advanced with the ability of preserving the original look. Also, the ticketing can be all digital instead of paper. The overall location is great."

"Interesting exhibition showcasing the history of the beautiful building and also theatre in general - celebrating the different professions who create the experiences from ticket sellers to directors via milliners.
Magnificent ceiling can be viewed up close, it includes three pieces by Gustaf Klimt at the start of his career.
Well worth the eur 5.50 entry fee- Information in English on all the panels and on a Friday night in December I had it to myself so the visit was very pleasant, distant sounds of trumpet rehearsals somewhere in the building as an extra bonus.
Saturday night Broadway show an experience as well and ticket prices very reasonable."
