What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Vyšehrad Railway Bridge for its stunning, less-crowded views of Prague's iconic landmarks, especially during sunrise and sunset. The industrial charm of the bridge itself is also a significant draw for photographers. Some minor concerns include the potential for strong winds and the need for awareness around active train lines.
"Very cool bridge to walk over the Vltava River. Walk on the south side if you want to see Vyšehrad and walk on the north side if you want to see the Prague Castle."

"Vysehrad Railway Bridge is one of the many bridges of the city of Prague on river Vltava..it was built way back in the 18th century. it does have a pedestrian walk together with the railway line.. it was briefly closed for renovations for pedestrians but reopened back in late 2018.. its one of the many historical land marks of the city where you can also enjoy the views of the other bridges and the Vyshrad castle nearby.."

"Walk along the river to get here, walk back from the other side. Good views from the bridge with plenty of trains crossing while there. I could see the steel flexing under the trains as they passed!"

Parking in Prague can be challenging and expensive. It's generally recommended to use public transport. If you do drive, look for paid parking zones in the surrounding neighborhoods, but be prepared for limited availability.
Yes, there are pedestrian walkways alongside the train tracks, allowing you to safely walk across and enjoy the views. Be mindful of train schedules if you are very close to the tracks.
For the best photographic angles, consider approaching from the Vyšehrad side. This allows you to frame shots with the historic Vyšehrad fortress in the foreground or background.
The bridge is generally safe, with designated pedestrian paths. However, always be aware of your surroundings, especially if visiting at night. Stick to the marked walkways.
🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry
No, access to the Vyšehrad Railway Bridge and its pedestrian walkways is completely free. You can enjoy the views and take photos without any admission fee.
The bridge is accessible at all hours, as it's a functional railway bridge with public walkways. However, for safety and the best experience, visiting during daylight hours or the golden hours of sunrise/sunset is recommended.
To avoid the largest crowds, aim for weekday mornings or late evenings. Weekends and midday can be busier, especially during peak tourist season.

A wide-angle lens is great for capturing the expansive cityscapes and the bridge's structure. A telephoto lens can be useful for isolating details of Prague Castle. A tripod is highly recommended for low-light conditions.
Experiment with different angles along the pedestrian walkway. Shots looking towards the city center are popular, as are those framing the bridge's industrial architecture.
Drone regulations in Prague are strict. It's essential to check current Czech aviation laws and obtain any necessary permits before flying a drone in this area, as it's close to urban areas and potentially sensitive infrastructure.
