What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Gardner Bay for its stunning natural beauty and abundant, interactive wildlife, especially the playful sea lions. The pristine beach and unique whale bone display are often highlighted as memorable features. Some reviewers noted fewer fish during snorkeling than expected, but the sea lion encounters more than made up for it.
"We rode a panga for a wet landing on the white coral beach of Gardner Bay in the late afternoon. Our HX expedition group had the beach to ourselves for snorkeling and strolling up to the Osborn islet for about an hour. We shared the beach with clusters of sea lion families. Some were flopped out on the sand. A few sea lions swam out to investigate the snorkelers. There's an impressive set of whale bones on the shore where you land. We didn't see any of Darwin's finches or mockingbirds. But it must have been a good time of day to fish. There were white birds circling and diving into the water close to shore."

"We came here to Espanola while on a 2-week cruise of the Galapagos in December 2024. We were an Gardner Bay for a beach walk and snorkeling. To be honest, there were not many fish. There were Sea Lions on the beach. The mockingbirds on the beach were very inquisitive!"
