Visitors consistently praise Maquipucuna Reserve for its stunning cloud forest environment, exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities (especially Andean bears), and the dedication to conservation. The knowledgeable guides, delicious food, and comfortable accommodations at the ecolodge are frequently highlighted as major positives, making it a highly recommended destination for nature lovers. Some minor issues with cabin cleanliness upon arrival have been noted, but overall, the experience is overwhelmingly positive.
"The reserve is a wonderful place to visit and to experience the cloud forest or Chocó Andino up close. The initiative is admirable — the organization, the hospitality, the food, the lodging. We went with our children, walked all the trails, swam in the waterfall and the rivers. And above all, we were treated wonderfully. Moreover, it is a non-governmental organization, which means it's a direct contribution to biodiversity conservation."

"Wow! What and incredible place! Ecuador in general has been an amazing place to live and connect with people, nature, and history for the last two months and Maquipucuna only added to this experience. We spent two days exploring the cloud forest with Andres, an incredibly knowledgeable guide who introduced us to the flora and fauna of the area! After exploring and learning we ate delicious meals - favorite plates were sopa de quinoa, a shrimp and bass stew, and the dairy free gluten free chocolate cake they kindly served to accommodate allergies. I highly recommend supporting this lodge and the beautiful experience you will have will expand your mind and the attention you put towards observing the natural world!"

"Fabulous bird watching and excellent guides. Food was delicious as well. My only slight criticism is that they did not have the cabin we rented fully clean and ready for us upon arrival."
