"The Temple of Dakka was built in the III century B.C. by the Meroutic King Arqamani aka Ergamenes II (??-205 B.C.) in collaboration with Ptolemaic Pharaoh of Egypt Ptolemy IV Philopator (244-204 B.C.). Temple of Dakka was dedicated to Egyptian god Toth the protector of wisdom. Temple was enlarged by Ptolemy IX Lathyros nicknamed Chickpea (143/2-81 B.C.). And today's appearance, this temple got as a result of renovations conducted by the Roman Emperors Augustus Octavian (63 B.C.-19 A.D.) and Tiberius (42 B.C. - 37 A.D.). Temple collapsed in 1908-1909 and was reassembled by Italian architect and Egyptologist Alessandro Barsanti (1858-1917). The Nile River cruise 🛳 continues.
