What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning scenery and the immersive experience of exploring vineyards via e-bike. The knowledgeable guides and the quality of local wine and food are frequently praised. However, some reviews mention concerns regarding e-bike battery reliability and the company's response to accidents, highlighting the importance of safety and clear communication.
"My wife and I did a full day tour with Wine and Ride Condrieu in September. Some things to be aware of if you are considering doing this tour:
- Our e-bikes ran out of batteries in the first half of the tour. We had to endure an exhausting hill climb as a result, and the bikes are not meant to be pedaled without power. We were able to charge the batteries at the halfway point and had no further battery issues, but we were tired for the rest of the day.
- The weather is unpredictable. On the day we toured, the forecast for Condrieu predicted only a few millimeters of rain, but in the hills it rained enough to drench us fully.
- Intermediate cycling skills are recommended, due to the 50km distance and steep inclines. Beginner cyclists may get sore, and/or struggle to control the bike on the steep hills.
- The views on this tour are amazing
- We enjoyed meeting a local farmer and touring a winery
- The quality of the food and drink was good
Given the battery issue, I asked for a refund of approximately 15% of the tour price but no refund was given. We had a good time, but we were not satisfied with how the management handled their simple mistake of not fully charging the batteries."

"Excellent activity to do in Condrieu/Cote-Rotie. Our guide Tom was very knowledgeable and showed us great places around. The Electric bikes make it very easy to ride. Overall we covered 20km in 3h (including. The wine degustation and multiple photo stops). Very good stop for wine degustation as well. I’d highly recommend this activity!"

While independent visits are possible, an organized tour often enhances the experience by providing context, transportation, and access to local producers. If visiting independently, research winery opening hours and consider renting an e-bike for easier exploration.
🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry
Booking in advance is highly recommended, especially for popular e-bike tours and wine tastings, as they often have limited spots. This ensures availability and allows operators to plan accordingly.
Costs can vary, but expect to pay around €100-€150 for a half-day e-bike tour that includes a guide, e-bike rental, and wine tasting. Some full-day tours may be more expensive.
There are generally no specific entrance fees for the Rhône Gorges themselves, as it's a natural landscape. However, activities within the gorges, such as guided tours or winery visits, will have their own associated costs.
Most tours include an e-bike rental, a knowledgeable guide, stops at scenic viewpoints, and a wine tasting session at one or more local wineries. Some may also include a light snack or lunch.
Cancellation policies vary by tour operator. It's essential to check the specific terms and conditions when booking, as some may offer full refunds if canceled within a certain timeframe, while others may have stricter policies.
🎫 🚴♀️ Onsite Experience
While e-bikes make climbing easier, the tours often involve steep inclines and cover distances of around 20-50 km. Intermediate cycling skills are recommended. Be prepared for a physical activity, even with electric assistance.
Wear comfortable athletic clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for cycling. Layers are advisable due to changing weather conditions. Don't forget sunglasses and sunscreen.

It can be challenging to take photos while actively cycling, especially on steep or winding paths. It's best to stop at designated viewpoints or safe pull-off areas to capture your shots.
A smartphone with a good camera is sufficient for most visitors. If you're a photography enthusiast, consider a wide-angle lens for landscapes and a telephoto lens for vineyard details. A portable charger is also useful for keeping your devices powered.
Generally, photography is allowed in public areas and vineyards. However, always be respectful of private property and ask for permission before photographing individuals or inside private winery facilities.
The 'golden hours' around sunrise and sunset provide the most beautiful, soft light for landscape and vineyard photography. Midday sun can be harsh, creating strong shadows.
